Solar Net Metering Cap Raised. The cap on net energy metering (NEM) was raised from 2.5% of utilities' peak demand to 5%, thereby doubling the number of potential solar customers that can take advantage of this special billing arrangement.

Compensation Option for Net-Metered Net Generators. Customer who generate more electricity than they use, on a 12-month basis, will have the option to receive financial compensation for the excess energy.  The program was suppossed to start in January of 2011, but has been delayed.


CSI Solar Thermal Program Under Way. A new $350 million program called CSI-Thermal, is providing rebates for installing qualified solar water heating systems.
